Meet Mystery Known (MK). An Award Winning Music Artist from Hampton VA with a flow that captivates and energizes audiences across the globe!
Growing up as a military kid, MK travelled the country and overseas and was exposed to different music genres at an early age. The ones he gravitated to the most were Hip Hop, Alternative Rock, and R&B. But it was the captivating world of Hip Hop that redefined his outlook, transforming his perspective on life, and his desire to be more creative as a person and eventually as a music artist.
At the age of 11, everything shifted when Mystery Known stumbled upon "Deep Cover," an iconic rap album/song by Dr. Dre and Snoop. The irresistible beat and hypnotic lyrics resonated deep within him, sparking a newfound passion for rap. Inspired by his own experiences as an everyday kid growing up, MK began penning heartfelt rhymes, pouring his soul onto paper.
After rededicating his life back to the Lord at 19, MK delved into writing rhymes that showcased his unwavering faith in God and the profound lessons life had taught him up to this point. As he participated in numerous talent shows within the military community and rapping amongst friends, family, and battle buddies in the Army, he discovered his gift of rhyming carried a weight and significance that could make a lasting impact in the world. It was an opportunity to spread a message of hope, the Gospel, to nations far and wide.
Born in Fairfax VA and his stomping grounds being Hampton VA, MK's journey took him to Louisiana, Germany, Leavenworth KS, Newport News, and Clarksville TN, following his and his father's military path. Stationed in Fort Campbell Ky, As a dedicated Army veteran who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, he felt a deep desire to travel the country, using his music to transcend societal expectations of mainstream culture and to share his testimony with the world.
Mystery Known aimed to ignite change and unity, sharing a message of love through the universal language of Hip Hop. He worked on his first CHH song in 2002 while in the Army called “Hellbound” performing it at talent shows and church events. He's since wrote well over 100 songs with several that gained nation wide recognition and notoriety.
His musical endeavors delve into pressing societal issues such as racism, injustice, police brutality and gang violence within communities. With highly anticipated albums like "Unspoken Words," “Louder,” "Don't Give Up," and "Keep the Faith," as well as mixtapes like "Fire Starter Vol 1 & 2" and "Retrospect V1," MK fearlessly takes listeners on a journey through his journey of faith, evolution of Hip Hop, and his own experiences in the streets while growing artistically.
It was his second studio album, "Louder," that truly garnered global recognition, with impactful singles like "Free To Live," "Louder," "Faith Walk," and "On IT." This powerful album encouraged listeners to amplify their faith in every facet of society. However, his Keep the Faith projects have garnered worldwide attention with Chop It Up feat. well known legendary rapper Twista becoming one of his most streamed songs to date.
MK won an Inferno Music Award for “Best Group Live” with his group Men After Christ (M.A.C., Pac Tha Innovator, and Jarard Kenneth) with several successful albums to date. Mystery Known's talent truly shined during his most notable performance at the Truth Music Tour in Evansville, IN, in May 2017. Sharing the stage with esteemed artists like Bizzle, Sevin, Datin, Eshon Burgundy, and Jered Sanders, he left an indelible impact on the audience, leaving them inspired and moved.
For MK, it's not about fame or accolades; it's about transforming lives. He firmly believes that if he can influence even one person to reflect on their salvation, contemplate their purpose, or make a positive impact on others, then he's fulfilling his calling or purpose. With faith and a desire to see people live the abundant life Jesus speaks of in John 10:10, Mystery Known embraces the mystery of his existence (being a forgiven and redeemed child of God called to share his testimony and the Gospel of Jesus Christ To The World) guided by the powerful words found in Ephesians 3: 3-8.
